Salvation Army Food Drive – begins Wednesday, December 1st

  • We are setting a school goal of $6000 by December 15th
  • if we reach our goal, we will have an Animal Dress Up day when we return after Christmas break
  • We are inviting students and families to donate money to the food drive as the Salvation Army has more buying power than we do. All donations go to the school office.

Right now, the Salvation Army can use all the money they can get as they are taking the lead on meal efforts for flood relief, providing extra supplies for those affected by this current situation, and then have a list of those already on the list for hampers and other needs this holiday.

Swimming Field Trip

I hope everyone is staying safe during this crazy time. I am so disappointed to say that our field trip has been cancelled. I have been in contact with the Leisure Center and they do not have the staff to run the trip, and also we are unsure as to whether we will have school or not. I will work with the coordinator to reschedule. Consider it a postponed trip rather than cancelled.

Stay safe everyone!

Hello families
We are hoping that you are staying safe and dry. When we left on Wednesday, no one could have imagined that we would be in this position now. However, we know that God is in control. As Joshua 1:9 says, “….Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
You should have received an email last night from the Highroad Admin with some details regarding today. If you have not received it, please let the office know or check your email folders as it contains some important information about what is happening at Highroad Academy.
As many of our families, including staff members, are facing challenges, we are not focusing on academics right now. Rather, we are looking at ways we can perhaps serve others even in small ways. However, if you are looking for things for your children to do while at home, we have put together some activities focusing on kindness and ways to be thoughtful at this time. The pictures below have lots of activities attached that can be done at any age level. Clicking on the pictures below will bring up a larger image.

Students can also spend some time writing down their reflections on what is happening around them like a diary. Their writing can focus on what they are seeing, hearing and feeling.

These activities are entirely optional. We understand that there may be other priorities or even ways your family can be of service in your community that are more important.

Above, we are praying for you, and we hope that we get to be together again soon.

Swimming

I feel like the theme for the week is water! I am so excited for our swimming field trip on Thursday and I hope the students are as well.

-Please remember your child may wear play clothes that day and they should have their swim suit either under their clothes or in a bag with a towel.

-They may also want to bring a lifejacket if they’re not a confident swimmer ( I will be in the water with them).

– We are leaving the school at 9:05 so please be on time.

– Our swim time is from 9:30 to 10:30 and we have the whole pool to ourselves!!!!

– If you would like to join us please make sure the office has a current criminal record check and you are aware of the covid policies for the Leisure Center.

If you have any questions or concerns please email me at avanleeuwen@highroadacademy.com
