Dress Code for Music Machine Performance
For the Music Machine performance, please wear:
1. Short-sleeved t-shirts in spring colors (avoid black, white is okay)
2. Sneakers or gym shoes
3. Full-length jeans or uniform pants (no shorts or skirts)
4. No hats
On April 30th there will be a bake sale fundraiser. Items will be 1$ each. Funds will go to purchase new books for the library.
Also a reminder that I will be testing the BMV on Monday. I sent an additional copy of it home yesterday.
A little more information about the track meet for you:
-The bus is leaving at 7:00
-We will return at 3:45
-Please ensure appropriate clothing for the weather
-Please bring a lunch and snacks as well as a water bottle
We had a great week in Grade 3/4! The farm field trip was so much fun, I loved being able to show the kids that part of my life. Our dog Zoe also really loved meeting all the kids. Check out our Instagram page for pictures.
We finished our One and Only Ivan novel study. It was such a beautiful story. The booklets that the students completed were sent home. We watched the movie yesterday in the afternoon.
We are beginning area and perimeter this week in Math, and working on editing and writing good copies of our stories. The grade 3s have started a new novel study (The Mouse and the Motorcycle) and the grade 4s are reading short non fiction articles and answering questions. In Socials, the students are reading current event articles and answering questions. In Science, they are learning about energy. We are continuing with our Bible Scavenger Hunts as well as talking about spiritual gifts in Bible.
Our chicks will be hatching soon, as of today we have 5 days left. They will be arriving on Tuesday and Wednesday. You are welcome to come in afterschool and take a look. Some of the chicks will be hanging around our class until Friday.
Next Thursday the grade 4s and I will be going to the track and field meet. There will be a TOC in the class for the grade 3s.

Today is our field trip to my dairy farm. The weather is not great so plan b will be to come back to school for lunch and watch a movie. Please make sure you child has boots and a jacket. Most of the dark tour will be in the barns but they will be walking outside as well.
COMMON GROUND STRAWBERRY PROJECT
We have some exciting things happening in our class right now! We were accepted to join the BC Agriculture in the classroom project called Common Ground a Strawberry Project. We were sent strawberry plugs and roots and we will be growing strawberry plants that are Indigenous to the area as well as some Everbearing plants that we will harvest in June. Please sign the notice that came home if you are willing to give permission for Agriculture in the Classroom to use some of the pictures I have been taking.
HATCHING CHICKS
We are in the process of hatching chicks! We have 15 more days to wait. Stay tuned for some pictures that will be posted to our Instagram account.
JERSEY DAY
Tomorrow is Jersey Day. Students can wear casual clothes with a jersey. If they don’t want to participate they can wear their uniform.
RIVERDALE DAIRY FIELD TRIP
Next Thursday April 25th is our field trip to my farm. I am still waiting for a couple permissions slips. If you have not sent it in could you please do that ASAP. If you are in need of a new form please let me know.
Intermediate Track Meet in May: Permission forms came home with information about our Intermediate Track Meet that takes place on Thursday, May 2nd at South Surrey Athletic Park. If your student is in Grade 4 could you please return that form ASAP.
IMPORTANT DATES
On April 10th we will be having a Pay To Wear Casual Day. If your child chooses to wear play clothes they will need to bring in a minimum donation of $5.00. All donations will be going to the library for new books.
On April 30th we will be having a bake sale. All money raised will be going to the Library for new books.
