Looking Ahead to Next Week

  • Math: We will begin a short unit on money.
  • Language Arts: Our focus will be on writing complete sentences using capital letters and periods, as well as practicing neat handwriting on the lines. Additionally, we will explore open and closed syllables and the different sounds vowels make.
  • Reading: The students are making fantastic progress with their reading skills! Thank you for supporting their learning by reading with them at home—it makes a big difference.
  • Social Studies: We are continuing our unit on community helpers, learning about the roles of veterinarians, bus drivers, nurses, and other community helpers in our community.
  • Science: We have started learning about habitats, discussing what a habitat is and exploring the eight different types. Next week, we will continue focusing on rainforests.
  • Bible: We just finished learning about King Solomon, and next week, we will begin studying Jesus’ time on earth. This unit will cover His many miracles, parables, and the key events leading to His death and resurrection, taking us all the way to Easter.

A Few Reminders

  • Many students are wearing shoes with laces, which is absolutely fine! However, tying laces has become quite time-consuming for Miss Thomas and me. If your child wears lace-up shoes, please take some time to help them practice tying their own laces.
  • As we enter the second half of the year, I will be dismissing the students to the playground after the end of day bell.
  • Thank you for your generous donations of stuffed animals for our mission team traveling to Guatemala! We will continue collecting donations until the end of February.

Thank you for your continued support—I truly appreciate it!

Valentines Day

Valentines Day this year falls on a Pro D day. We will be celebrating with some fun activities. It is the same day as hundreds day so we will get all the celebrations done in one day! Students are by no means obligated to send valentine cards, however, if you would like to, I ask that you make one for every child. The names of the students in our class are listed below.
