The students have been working so hard these past few weeks, and it has really shown in their work. We have started arrays in Math, and have begun talking about multiplication. I can’t believe how quickly they are all catching on! In Language Arts we have been working on personal narratives and our novel study. Next week we will be continuing with personal narrative and readers theatre. The play they will be preforming is The Elves and the Shoemaker. In Social Studies we are learning about culture. The students are working on a culture flap book to identify aspects of their own culture. In Science we are learning about atoms and molecules. Today we made molecules using candy and marshmallows (All following Covid protocols).

Please continue supporting your child in reading. Many of the students are forgetting to bring in their home reading and this is causing some setbacks in their progress.

Hopefully the monsoon weather subsides and the students can enjoy some much needed fresh air. Please remind them to bring a warm jacket, we try to get them out as much as possible.

Many Blessings ,

Mrs. V

Parent Teacher Interviews

The months are just flying by! Parent teacher interviews are being held on November 16th from 9-4. I am available to meet remotely via Google Meets, or in person. I don’t have a preference, however, if you choose to meet in person you will be required to wear a mask, and your children will not be able to come in. You can click on the link below to sign up. Please let me know if you are having difficulty. I hope to meet with everyone. If you are unable to make any of the times listed please let me know and we can make other arrangements.

I sent home a Scholastic flyer a few days ago, if you would like to order a book you can do that online using this code: RC134695. You can also send in the flyer with a cheque (Payable to Scholastic Canada) and I will order it. Please have these in By November 6th if you are ordering.

Fall Dress Up

Tomorrow is Fall Dress Up day. Students are invited to wear casual clothes and enjoy a hot dog and bag of chips. Thank you to Fraser Valley Roofing for their generosity. If your child does not like hot dogs please send them with a lunch.

In Grade 3 we use our Bibles quite frequently. If your child does not have a Bible could you please send one to school for them. Starting this week we will be studying the Gospel of John.

Spelling Tests

Hi Parents,

I recently watched an amazing TedX talk about pressured in school being directly related to students willingness to try. I am going to explore this a bit more by not sending spelling tests home. Students will still have spelling tests and they will still be marked. Students will not be taking the tests home after they are marked and will not be given their score. If you would like to know how they are doing on their tests you can email me and I will give you their marks. I will let you know if I have any concerns about their progress or marks.
