It was a short but productive week last week! We have been continuing to develop our reading and writing skills. I have also been conducting reading assessments with the students and have been so impressed with the progress many of them are making. Please remember to continue reading at home with your child — it is one of the most important ways to help build strong readers!
In Math, we have started a unit on shapes, which will be followed by a unit on measurement.
In Social Studies, we are putting together all the wonderful things we have learned about communities by building our own community with LEGO. Stay tuned for pictures!
In Science, we are continuing our learning about lifecycles while hatching chicks. This morning, one of our eager chicks has pipped!

Highroad Theatre Company will be performing Frozen Jr. on April 10th, 11th and 12th. Tickets are available online www.highroadacademy.com and there are lots of tickets left for families to come and see the show. We hope you all will come and support the high school students who have been working so hard all year to bring you an amazing show.
*This will be an amazing show and our class will not be seeing it so I would highly recommend getting tickets.
Students can wear red and white today for Canada Dress up. If they do not want to participate they should wear their uniform.
Please remember to bring library books and bags back this week.
It is almost Spring Break! We are all definitely ready for a break. We are still working hard on sounding out words and recognizing sight words. In Math, we will be starting a unit on graphing tomorrow as well as continuing our practice of addition and subtraction. In Science we are continuing our study of habitats, in Socials we are continuing our study of Communities.
Please check your child planner for a form from Fraser Health. We have had another case of lice in the class so please check your child’s hair and return the form by Monday.
Next week is the last week before Spring Break. On Friday we will have pancakes to celebrate the break.
